Incorrect Theories, Part 2

"LOL - I love your theories. Unfortunately they are all wrong (for now). Hopefully I'll have the goods to deliver by the end of the week...a nice Thankgiving gift to loyal Sonseed fans." -Doug

Darn, I was wrong. Well, I'll just keep speculating (and getting those wrong too).
  1. A&E Biography will be doing a documentary about Sonseed. Probably not, since Sonseed it still not yet well-known. But hopefully one day!
  2. A biopic about the members of the band will be made. See the comment for #1.
  3. The band members contracted with a record company to release "First Fruit" on CD and MP3. It's possible, but again, not probable.
  4. Doug was able to get a copy of Sal's video recording of the final Sonseed concert and will be posting it online. This may be the most likely yet.

Exciting Sonseed News Coming Soon

Earlier today, Doug said in a comment "Some exciting SONSEED news coming soon. I'll keep you posted."

What could this exciting news be? I have come up with several theories (none of which are probably right).

  1. Sonseed has reunited and is beginning a nationwide tour, and will be releasing a new album. That would be the dream of every Sonseed fan, but it is very unlikely. Two of its members have already passed away, and the rest have gone their own way and led very successful lives.
  2. Contemporary Christian artists are remaking the album First Fruits. We have seen the video of David Crowder covering "Jesus Is A Friend Of Mine". MercyMe could do "Gospel Ship", tobyMac could do "Oh Happy Day", and "Say Yes" could be done by Newsboys. But this probably is not the news.
  3. The band members will reunite on "Good Morning America." This is possible, but not probable.

Hopefully, no matter what the news is, it will be exciting for Sonseedaholics everywhere.

globeandmail.com Sonseed Article

Sonseed's Jesus Is My Friend has gone viral

LISAN JUTRAS

From Monday's Globe and Mail
October 20, 2008 at 9:34 AM EDT

This is a bi-weekly column about microcelebrities - the often accidental stars of the viral videos and jpegs crowding our inboxes.

A Christian band, apparently adrift in the late 1970s, rocks its way through a tight little ska tune: "He taught me how to pray/and how to save my soul./He taught me how to praise my God and still play rock and roll." Everybody's dressed in shades of blue, swaying stiffly, looking like elementary-school teachers cutting loose in the staff room. The men wear vests; their collars are too big. The guitarist, in grey suede shoes, thrashes away. "He is like a Mountie," sings the band's incredibly earnest front man in more innocent, pre-Taser days. "He always gets his man/And he'll zap you any way he can ... ZAP!" Read article
